So, Wednesday I owe for yesterday, here I go.
6AM open gym
7AM Breakfast
8 AM Hike It was absolutely beautiful. This was a new hike for me, I've been in the lowest van because of my knee, but moved up one, so I have new places! See pic below.
11:15 H20 Circuit, kicked butt!
12:15 Lunch
12:40 Private training with Cameron, Lyndee and I got our sweat on! I nearly lost my lunch a couple times...
2:30 H20 Intervals this one was so so, too many people in my class to really be able to move
3:30 Cardio Intervals: Had sweat dripping all over the machine... gross, but I worked it!
4:30 Total Toning... we move from station to station. For squats with a bar I used a 24 lb, nearly what I lost. I'ts a lot of weight! Thank you to Hannah for that suggestion... :)
5:30 Dinner. I am attaching menu and a pic of lunch...

So as of this moment, 6:48 am, I have burned 6548 calories in the last less then 24 hour period. WOO HOO!!

8 AM Hike (2.5 hours, includes driving time) My hike today was Malibu Creek. We did the "Assesment Hike", which means that it was harder than normal for me. I have asked to be moved up one level of hiking van though.... We'll see how that goes. Fingers crossed!!!! Also, we have Fredo from Season 10 Biggest Loser, and Sherri from Season 9 Biggest Loser here this week. Also, Ruben from Season 2 is a hiking guide, which is pretty cool. Fredo and his wife Caroline were so encouraging and just awesome to hike with today! I don't think they will be in my van though :(.
11:15 AM Mountain Class (gym, where on a cardio machine we go up 12 levels, one every 30 seconds Had to do stretch instead
12:30 Lunch
1 PM Budget
1:45 PM Open Gym- For my open gym I did 45 mins on the treadmill, just doing a weightloss program from the machine. I brought 3 lbs weights on with me and rocked out!
2:30 PM Circut Training, (gym, 2 mins on cardio machine, 2 mins on weights, switch.)
3:30 PM Core Training

Week 3 recap

Wow. Well, last week was difficult for me. I started the week off with my knee really acting up, and chose to opt out of the hikes this week. Which is scary, beacuse that is where we burn the most of our calories, usually the whole day's worth of food. But I did manage one day to actually beat my calorie burn in the gym! So, 3 weeks in, I am down a  total of 18 lbs and 15.5 inches in my "trunk" area. I plan to kick it up a level or two next week, hopefully my knee won't have other plans. This week we lost Tamme, which has made today a sad day for me. I know it's hard to think it, but in such a short amount of time you become very close with the people you meet here. Next week I will lose everyone else that hasn't already left from our group. I'm a little worried about that. I'm sure I'll find someone. My new "roommate" (we share a bathroom), is wearing on me a bit. She doesn't seem to participate in nearly anything, just sleeps all day. Stays up late at night which ends up waking me up... grr. I have to keep telling myself "I can only control my own actions. This is my journey, I can't compare to anyone else." But it's still hard. I'm not being very nice about it, but that's about all that I can be.
So. Plans for next week.
1.) Get enough rest. This is mandatory for me.
2.) PUSH IT! I need to bring my A game all the time
3.) Stay positive. I can do anything I put my mind to
4.) Focus on me. Don't let outside factors interfere with my work
5.) Make all the hikes!!!

Not that you all have endless time on your hands, but my friend Lyndee keeps a very detailed blog, including menu and stuff, if you are interested, it totally ROCKS!:

Her story is amazing. So is her drive, and willingness to help people around her. I can't say enough times how lucky I am to have these friends that I have here. I would not have made it this far without them.
Love you all!

Thursday, April 12, 2012

Ahh Thursday. We love you so much! Today has rocked! I was in the lead with my hiking team, (a first, I'm usually in the back), AND did the bonus hill, called Big Daddy. It wasn't really that big, but I am glad that I pushed myself! Yesterday I was just really really tired, came back after lunch to take a quick nap and slept through Open Gym and my pool class... Whoops! got a wake up call and hit the next one though. Very VERY sad to be losing some friends this week. Trying really hard not to focus on it too bad or I will be a mess, it will not be the same here with these ladies gone; Debi, Jenn, and Wendy. Have not made any connections with the Week 2 group yet other than with the New Debbie on our hiking van, but she will be gone at the end of this week as well. Luckily Lyndee and Tamme are here for a few more, 2 more for Lyndee and one more for Tamme. I can't believe I am almost 2 weeks down!! Bought my second knee brace, (first one was too small), this one is too big! Hope to be able to squeeze that smaller one on, but all in all I am holding it together. Missing my little boy sooooo much. He got 4 new pairs of shoes, how could I miss that? Well,  off to open gym again, love you all!

Monday, Week 2

So here I am again. A Monday. But week 2 this time. MUCH different form last Monday, which was pure h***. I am in good spirits so far, tired today, and really missing my Nico. Got a picture of him in the pool... :( Glad he's enjoying himself though! A whole new group of people came in, over 40. Not nearly as friendly as last week, this group. Glad I still have some of my week 1 friends around, (Debi, Jenn, Tamme, Jill), meeting some new ones from week 1, Wendy, Lindee, Marilyn. Did an assesment test on Sunday, down over 5 lbs and lost 8 inches just in the "trunk area"; chest, tummy, hips. YAY! My knee is feeling better, can't wait until this stupid brace arrives. I already feel myself being stronger and lasting longer on the hikes, PHEW! Hopefully next week I'll be ready to move up a van and get some more challenging terrain. Burned 1306 cals just on my hike today!! :) Well, that's it for tonight folks. I need to go update the music playlist on my iPhone, time to 86 the slower stuff. xoxo

Week 1 recap

For some of you this is new news; I've committed 5 weeks of my time to join a "Wellness Resort". This has been quite a trial for me, emotionally it was very difficult to leave the things behind that need me; Nico and Sergio, my family, work, school, all of the crazy day to day things that I do. Last Sunday, April 1, my boys and I hit the road to drive me down to Malibu. I took down some quick notes that morning, which read:

April 1, 2012 7:40 am
Very nervous as we head off on our big drive down to Malibu Biggest Loser. Said goodbyes and got a little tearful when dad said his usual "pretty fond of you too". Mom is so positive and excited for me! A little afraid about letting everyone down. Love my family and everything they do for me. Sergio keeps telling me how proud of me he is. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband who supports me in this necessary step. Snuggled up with Nico this morning for the last time for 5 weeks... Hardest part ever.

My recap for the last week. Wow, has this been hard! Lots of highs and lows. I came in the first night and met my week 1 "gang"; Nicky from London, Debi from Houston, Jill from Seattle, and Jenn from Alberta. Everyone here has a personal reason for being here, but for everyone the change is a lifestyle difference. Looking around the room brought on a whole range of different sorts: large, medium, and small, men, women, and even a few teenagers here with their parents. The first night we learned there would be no caffeine, which really freaked Nicky out a little, she was quite used to drinking lots of coffee. Went to bed apprehensive, unsure of what Monday would hold.
Woke up bright and early to prepare for "Meet my gym", breakfast, and then the assessment hike. This hike was WAY too hard for me, I had quite a difficult time and got separated from my group, (but still had a guide, Tina, with me). I'm not going to go into every work out that I do all day long, there are too many of them! We work out 7 or 8 hours a day. The hikes themselves are 2 hours long. So far this week they have all been challenging! Day 1 was mentally and physically exhausting. Day 2 was even worse. We were all pretty sore and tired. Received a text from Sergio that said something about the Navy Seals motto being "yesterday was the easy day", I think about that every day.
So, I have met a number of beautiful people, my girls listed above, Erika also from Seattle, who has seemed to taken a part in my work here. She has encouraged me every step that she can. Yvonne from So Cal, who is always smiling. And, too late in the week, Bill from Chicago. Nicky and he hit it off, and so I was introduced to this hilarious guy.
As the week ends here, I have had to say goodbye to Nicky, Erica, and Bill. I know it sounds crazy, but I am actually very very sad to see them go, tearful even. The friendships I have made this week have helped me through this time. Thankfully, Debi, Jenn, and Jill are still here with me for the next week. We get in a whole slough of new people for week 2, I hope to be able to help someone else's transition as much as these dear ones have for me.
My achievements this week: I made it! :) I finished 2 of my hikes not last
My goals for next week: Push myself, do not let my knee hold me back. Modify, don't stop.
